Pupil Premium
At Culcheth Community Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Pupil Premium funding is used strategically to remove barriers to learning, improve educational outcomes and ensure that disadvantaged pupils have full access to the rich academic, sporting, cultural and enrichment opportunities offered by our school. Our approach is based on the individual needs of our pupils and is embedded within our wider school improvement priorities.
A significant element of our Pupil Premium strategy is our investment in high-quality teaching. We use funding to provide additional qualified teacher capacity, enabling year groups to be split for English and Mathematics into teaching groups of approximately 15 pupils. This allows teachers to provide more personalised and responsive teaching, identify misconceptions and gaps in learning at an early stage, provide immediate feedback and ensure that pupils receive appropriate support and challenge. We also provide targeted interventions and additional academic support where required.
We recognise that educational disadvantage can extend beyond the classroom. We therefore use Pupil Premium funding to help ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent pupils from participating fully in educational visits, residential experiences and extracurricular clubs. We also provide appropriate pastoral, attendance and wider support where individual pupils experience barriers to learning. Our aim is to ensure that disadvantaged pupils develop not only academically, but also in confidence, independence, resilience, aspirations and their sense of belonging within our school community.
Our current Pupil Premium strategy covers the three-year period 2025–2026 to 2027–2028 and is reviewed and updated annually. During 2025–2026, our school received £68,805 in Pupil Premium funding and invested £72,865 in provision supporting disadvantaged pupils, with the additional £4,060 funded from the school’s wider budget. This reflects our commitment to investing in provision that we believe has a meaningful impact on the educational experiences and outcomes of our disadvantaged pupils.
